While at their home, we were given a quick tour of the surrounding area. Ath the time, we were anticipating retirement, so in our travels within the state, we looked at a number of 55+ communitiesAfter some discussion, the overwhelming choice was the Bon Ayre community. The atmosphere within the community and the many nice folks living here, sealed the deal. This is a very active 55+ community with many clubs and activities. The folks living here are very friendly with many diverse backgrounds. We moved from New England five years ago and have enjoyed every moment. Shopping and malls are conveniently located. - Jima resident of Bon Ayre "You've come a long way, baby!"My husband and I have resided in the Bon Ayre Community for 10 years. When we first moved into our home, we were the only house on that block. There was no Community Center. Piles of dirt were everywhere. You know that saying: “You’ve come a long way, baby.” That slogan certainly does apply to Bon Ayre. In that ten year period, we have enjoyed watching the community grow and flourish. Piles of dirt have been replaced by homes, where resides take pride in maintaining their gardens/lawns and keeping their property in pristine condition. We also now have a Community Center, complete with exercise equipment and there is a different daily activity -- sometimes even 2 or 3 on one day -- from which to choose. Be it crocheting, cards, or line dancing -- there is always something for everyone. The homes are well constructed and you get a lot of home for the money. The sales staff is courteous and takes pride in maintaining the land and common areas. Bon Ayre is a lovely community with a rural setting but yet has all the conveniences of big city living -- shopping centers, malls, medical facilities, hospitals, all of which are so important to a senior climate. And the community is a perfect size, where neighbors look out for one another. We would definitely recommend that you visit Bon Ayre and see for yourself what Bon Ayre can offer. - Joana resident of Bon Ayre A Review of Bon AyreI started my search 4 years before I retired, I wanted to live someplace close enough so that I may travel to see my family for holidays or other special occasions, but I also wanted something of low maintenance and something that would not eat up my nest egg. I visited many manufactured housing communities in New jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and even North Carolina before I choose Bon Ayre. I have been a resident now for 6 years and I am happy to say my wife and I could not happier. First, we are close to all medical facilities, doctors, malls, Arts and hospitals all are very important for a senior: Second, the community is active - just like the sign says at the entrance way into the community. Every household gets a key to the community center the residents have many clubs and functions almost something for everyone and if you do not see a club activity that is of interest to you then you just simply start your own! You can invite the entire community to join you through our monthly newsletter, and then reserve your day and time - that is all that is required! And even if you would rather just to keep to yourself that is just fine with your neighbors - we never lose our community pride! The homes are of good quality and roomy, the lots to me are oversized for a manufactured community - definitely a bonus. Bon Ayre is almost like the song from the TV show, "Cheers" - a place to come where everyone knows your name. Management takes pride on how he maintains the Community Building and all the land and common grounds around our community. Family comes to visit and they feel right at home. If you are looking for good, affordable housing then I recommend you come to Bon Ayre. If you are not familiar with Delaware then you are missing out on rural life with all the convenience of the big city. If you are seriously looking for a good place to live then I highly recommend you come to Delaware and make it a point to visit the Bon Ayre community! - Franka resident of Bon Ayre |
